Stinky feet are unpleasant, both for you and others who are around you.  Many people think it’s an inevitable side effect of sweating.  Actually, it is caused by bacteria on your skin that feed off of moisture. So, if you can control these bacteria, then you can save yourself (and others) from the stench of your feet.

The below foot soaks not only prevent stinky feet, but are also a great way to pamper your feet after a long day on them.

1. Simple Epsom Salt Foot Soak
To neutralize odor, sooth aching feet and replenish your body’s magnesium levels, use epsom salt.
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup of Epsom salt
  • 8 cups of warm water
  • A big bowl or bucket to soak your feet in
Instructions
  1. In 8 cups of warm water, dissolve ½ cup of Epsom salt.
  2. Soak your feet 1-2 times daily for a total of 30 minutes.
  3. Dry them thoroughly.

2. Sage and Rosemary Soak
Sage is great for preventing stinky feet, as it has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties, while rosemary is also antibacterial and antifungal. Both of these herbs are also astringent, which works to minimize sweat production from your feet.
Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary
  • 1-2 teaspoons of dried sage
  • A big bowl or bucket to soak your feet in
Instructions
  1. Add herbs to a foot basin of boiling water.
  2. Let it steep until it is cool enough for your feet.
  3. Soak 1-2 times each day for 30 minutes.
  4. Dry them thoroughly.

3. Bubbly Baking Soda and Citrus Soak
Baking soda works to control odor, kill bacteria/fungus, and even helps soften your skin, while lemon works as an astringent and provides a great scent.
Ingredients
  • ¼ cup of baking soda
  • 8 cups of warm water
  • Juice of one lemon
  • A big bowl or bucket to soak your feet in
Instructions
  1. Place baking soda in your foot basin and cover with water.
  2. Squeeze the lemon juice in and mix.
  3. Soak your feet for about 15-20 minutes.
  4. Dry them completely.
4. Very Vinegar Soak
While vinegar provides a smell that doesn’t please everyone, it’s a great option for getting rid of odor as it makes an acidic environment that makes it hard for bacteria to survive.
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 5-8 cups of warm water
  • A big bowl or bucket to soak your feet in
Instructions
  1. Add vinegar to a foot basin filled with water and mix.
  2. Soak your feet for 15 minutes twice daily.
  3. Rinse them with cold water.
  4. Dry them completely.

5. Black Tea Foot Soak
This is popular natural remedy for preventing stinky feet. And while it may seem unusual, people swear by it.
Ingredients
  • 5 bags of black tea
  • 4 cups of hot water
  • A big bowl or bucket to soak your feet in
Instructions
  1. In a foot basin, pour in boiling water and then add the tea.
  2. Let the tea steep for 10 minutes and then allow it to cool down.
  3. Soak your feet once a day for 20 minutes.
  4. Dry them completely.
